FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between The Sew Co. and STONED?

The Sew Co. is Kirstin's professional alterations and sewing service and operates independently from Kirstin Davis Design's custom costume commissions. Alteration services are booked separately and are not included with costume purchases.

The STONED Collection is Kirstin Davis Design's signature custom design experience featuring one-of-a-kind competition costumes created exclusively for each dancer. Every piece begins with a new or exciting concept and is brought to life through our collaborative design process.

Can I order a costume without commissioning a custom design?

The ENCORE Collection features thoughtfully designed ready-to-order styles created by Kirstin Davis Design. These designs include the same premium craftsmanship and hand-applied rhinestone work, with limited customization options such as color selections (when available). They're perfect for dancers who want a luxury costume with a shorter design process.

What does my booking deposit cover?

Your booking deposit reserves your production window and delivery month. Because production availability is limited each season, all booking deposits are non-refundable and are applied toward your final balance.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Many clients choose to make payments throughout the design process. Your remaining balance must be paid in full before your costume ships.

Are deposits and payments refundable?

No. Because every costume is custom made and production availability is intentionally limited, all deposits, design fees, and payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. All custom costume sales are final.

How does the custom design process work?

  1. Reserve your delivery month.
  2. Complete your Design Questionnaire.
  3. Schedule your private design consultation.
  4. Review and approve your sketch.
  5. Submit measurements before production begins.
  6. We bring your vision to life.

Can I make changes after my design is approved?

Once your sketch has been approved, your design is considered final. Minor adjustments may be possible before production begins, but major design changes or completely new concepts require a new design fee.

Why is there a Design Consultation Fee?

Your private Design Consultation reserves dedicated one-on-one time with Kirstin to discuss your vision, review inspiration, and finalize design details.

The consultation fee is credited toward your custom costume when the appointment is attended as scheduled.

What happens if I miss my consultation?

Appointments begin at the scheduled time.

Missed appointments or late arrivals may require a new consultation booking.

When should measurements be submitted?

Measurements should be submitted shortly before production begins to ensure the most accurate fit.

Because dancers grow quickly, we recommend waiting until your production window rather than measuring several months in advance.

What if my dancer grows?

We encourage parents to select their preferred fit option when completing the Custom Measurement Form.

Although we account for normal wearing ease, costumes are created using the measurements submitted.

Do you offer alterations?

Yes! Although Kirstin Davis Design does not include alteration services after delivery on custom costume orders, you may book her alteration service separately. To book Kirstin for alterations use That Sew Co.

Minor fit adjustments can typically be completed by a qualified local seamstress.

When will my costume ship?

Your costume will ship during your reserved delivery month.

Although we cannot guarantee an exact delivery date, you'll receive tracking information as soon as your order ships.

Do you offer rush orders?

Rush availability is extremely limited and depends entirely on our production schedule.

Please contact us before booking if you require an expedited timeline.

How do we communicate throughout the process?

To keep communication organized and efficient, all design communication takes place through Email & Text Message.

This allows us to keep inspiration, revisions, approvals, and updates in one place.

Can Kirstin Davis Design decline an order?

Yes.

We proudly maintain a respectful, positive client experience for everyone. Kirstin Davis Design reserves the right to decline or discontinue projects if communication becomes abusive, disrespectful, or falls outside our policies.

Will my dancer's costume be featured on social media?

Kirstin Davis Design may photograph completed garments for use on our website, portfolio, and social media channels unless otherwise requested in writing prior to shipment.

How many custom commissions do you accept each season?

To provide an exceptional client experience, Kirstin Davis Design intentionally accepts a limited number of commissions each season. We recommend reserving your preferred delivery month as early as possible.

How do we communicate throughout the process?

To keep communication organized and efficient, all design correspondence is conducted via email and text message. This allows us to maintain a complete record of inspiration, approvals, revisions, and project updates throughout your custom design journey.
