Our Fit Promise & Measurement Policy
A Beautiful Fit Begins with Accurate Measurements
At Kirstin Davis Design, every costume is individually patterned and handcrafted exclusively for your dancer. Rather than using standard size charts, we create each garment from the measurements you provide, allowing us to achieve a truly custom, stage-ready fit.
Our promise is simple: we are committed to creating a costume that is both beautiful and performance-ready. Accurate measurements are the foundation of that promise.
Our Fit Promise
When accurate measurements are submitted, you can expect:
✨ A custom pattern created specifically for your dancer.
✨ A secure, competition-ready fit designed for movement and performance.
✨ Exceptional craftsmanship with attention to every detail.
✨ Personal service throughout the custom design experience.
Because every dancer is unique, every costume is unique too.
Before You Submit Your Measurements
Please complete the following steps before submitting your Measurement Form:
✔ Complete the Measurement Form in its entirety.
✔ Review our Measurement Guide before measuring.
✔ Measure each area twice and verify every number.
✔ Have another adult assist with measuring whenever possible.
✔ If you're uncertain, we recommend having your dancer measured by a qualified seamstress, tailor, or experienced dance professional.
Once production begins, measurements cannot be changed.
Creating the Perfect Fit
Your measurements are used to create a custom digital pattern designed exclusively for your dancer.
For the best results:
• Measure over a fitted leotard or dancewear.
• Keep the measuring tape comfortably snug—not tight.
• Record measurements exactly as taken.
• Avoid estimating or rounding numbers.
• If you expect your dancer to grow before the performance season, select your preferred fit option on the Measurement Form so appropriate wearing ease can be considered.
Competition costumes are intentionally designed to fit more securely than everyday clothing, allowing dancers to perform with confidence on stage.
If Adjustments Are Needed
Although every costume is carefully inspected before leaving our studio, adjustments may occasionally be necessary.
If the issue is our responsibility
If we determine that your costume was not produced according to the measurements submitted, Kirstin Davis Design will make it right.
Depending on the situation, we may:
• Coordinate with a local alterations professional.
• Request the costume be returned to our studio for correction.
Studio corrections typically require approximately 3–4 weeks.
If the submitted measurements were incorrect
If your costume was produced correctly using the measurements provided, alteration costs become the client's responsibility.
You may:
• Work with a trusted local seamstress.
• Return the costume to Kirstin Davis Design for alterations.
Studio alterations begin at $250, plus applicable shipping. Turnaround time is generally 3–4 weeks.
Quality Assurance
Every costume is inspected before shipping and arrives with a Quality Assurance Tag attached.
To remain eligible for approved studio adjustments:
• The tag must remain attached.
• The costume must be in original condition.
Removing the Quality Assurance Tag indicates acceptance of the garment and voids eligibility for studio alterations.
